Transition (T-series) Air Bars
New Way® Air Bearings Transition (T-series) Line of air bars is the first to combine our Frictionless Motion®️® with vacuum pressure for conveying even the most delicate materials reliably. Evenly distributed holes provide vacuum pressure that keeps materials such as glass from leaving the conveyor while our naturally porous carbon substrate creates a uniform air cushion between the two surfaces. This non-contact, Frictionless Motion®️ eliminates damage to materials caused by touching the conveyor and is ideal for cleanroom environments.
Air is forced through the porous carbon substrate where it must pass through winding passageways to reach the surface. This creates a stiff, uniform cushion of air at the surface which allows fly heights between 20 and 120 microns. Component wear in your assembly is no longer a concern since the parts never come in contact. The stability of the air gaps makes crashes due to pressure gradients a thing of the past.
Air bars are ideal for the flat panel display, semiconductor and solar panel manufacturing industries. The vacuum pressure combined with our Porous Media TechnologyTM provides uniform flattening and prevents lifting as the material travels along the conveyor.

Clean Room Compliant
The unique use of porous media in air bars makes them ideal for clean room use. Not only is less air used in air bars when compared to orifice-based air bearings, but the air is evenly distributed by the porous media. Both of these features minimize the potential of currents or eddies in the clean room and its damaging impacts on production.
Another benefit of the use of porous media is its ability to perform as a sub-micron filter for the air emitted. Testing indicates the bearing satisfies the requirements of Class 1 (ISO class 3) cleanliness, with airborne particulate concentrate limits of less than 1,000 x 0.1μm particles / m3.
